Reaching out to the community

We believe in the value of community. Shnier employees live and work in communities across Canada, and we feel supporting these communities is essential. Our future depends on mutual support between communities and businesses. Shnier proudly supports volunteer and educational initiatives.

The employee social committee at Shnier conducts events throughout the year to bring fun to the workplace and raise funds for various charities. Through employee fundraising and corporate support, Shnier regularly supports charitable organizations such as SickKids, Habitat for Humanity, World Vision, Holiday Helpers, and Daily Bread Foodbank.

Shnier’s commercial flooring business unit, Division9 continuously sponsors 9 World Vision children located in various parts of the world. World Vision is a global relief, development and advocacy organization empowering children, families and their communities to overcome poverty and injustice.

During the period of flooding in Québec, Ontario and New Brunswick, Shnier/Gesco has contributed to relief efforts through the Canadian Red Cross. Please visit https://www.redcross.ca to learn how you can help.

Over the course of 2018, Shnier donated $35,515 worth of flooring products to the GTA Habitat for Humanity for recent builds.

During the Christmas season, Shnier employees gather together for the day to help wrap gifts at Santa’s warehouse for families in need with Holiday Helpers. Holiday Helpers is a registered charity whose mission is to provide a one-time personalized Christmas package to low income families with young children who are trying to improve their circumstances.

Gesco employees are encouraged to give back to their communities across the country and share their experiences through our “12 Days of Kindness” campaign. Follow us on LinkedIn to see the good deeds carried out by our employees during the holiday season. #GescoGivesBack

Throughout the year, Shnier holds food drives to donate non-perishable food items to the Daily Bread Food Bank.

Shnier is an active participant in annual Charity Golf Tournaments in partnership with: Home Hardware for KW Counselling Services – a multi-service agency offering counselling support to individuals, couples and families in the Waterloo region, as well as the Castle Annual Vendor Appreciation Golf Tournament which supports The SickKids Foundation.

Shnier also supports work internships and has hosted MBA groups from the Schulich School of Business. Division9 hosts product information sessions at Humber College and CEU presentations for Architects, Designers and Installers.
